Elementary Division

Our careful approach to early training shapes developing young muscles and prepares a solid foundation for classical movement - the key to successful dancing!  Students in our Elementary Division begin their study of classical ballet with an emphasis on alignment of the spine and correct use of muscles in the legs and feet.  

2010-2011 School Year
The Elementary Division 2010-2011 School Year begins August 16.

Dress Code:
Ballet students in Elementary Ballet wear pink tights and a black leotard with pink ballet shoes of either leather or canvas. Hair shoulder length and longer must be secured neatly in a bun.   Tap I students wear beige tap shoes.  

Class Descriptions:
Elementary Ballet (1st and 2nd Grade) The goal of Elementary Ballet is to establish a solid classical foundation with an emphasis on alignment of the spine and correct use of muscles in the legs and feet.    Classes are made up of barre work, center work, exercise to increase flexibility, and exercises to encourage musicality and self-expression.  Students are also taught the correct protocol for the ballet classroom.

Tap focuses on rhythm, syncopation and style.   Our classes provide instruction in traditional tap.  An emphasis is placed on developing proper sound and clarity.
