HANSEL AND GRETEL
The Shades Mountain Baptist Church Orchestra, conducted by Steve Dunn, played the overture.
Children play at the edge of the haunted forest.
One tells the story of the witch that lives in the forest.
Their parents take them home to safety.
Hansel and Gretel are hungry and bored with their chores.
Gretel offers to teach Hansel to dance.
While dancing, they forget their hunger and their chores.
Mother returns and is angry at them for not doing their chores.
She sends them into the forest to hunt for strawberries.
Father comes home with a surprise of food.
He asks, “Where are the children?”
He tells the story of the witch that lives in the haunted forest.
Meanwhile, Hansel and Gretel become lost in the forest.
Gretel makes a crown out of flowers.
The Sandman arrives and calms their fears.
The Sandman sprinkles magical sand to help them sleep.
A Guardian Angel appears.
Then, a host of angels join her.
They cover Hansel and Gretel with a blanket of angel wings.
The angels watch over Hansel and Gretel...
...and guard them through the night.
At midnight the Witch comes out to cast spells.
Flames and Shadows dance around her.
She captures little frogs with a “zap” from her magic wand.
The frogs must follow her commands.
The Goblins and Cats are under the Witch’s spell, too.
The Guardian Angel appears and frees the frogs.
A beautiful Dawn Fairy floats in on dew bubbles.
She is joined by Dew Fairies and Little Birds.
Hansel & Gretel are excited to find the gingerbread cottage.
The Witch captures Hansel with a rope.
The Witch’s Cats assist her in capturing Hansel & Gretel.
She freezes them with a magic spell...
... and places Hansel in a cage while Gretel does housework.
The Witch plans to bake Hansel & Gretel into gingerbread.
Other gingerbread children are already under her spell.
Hansel and Gretel overhear the Witch’s plan.
They trick the Witch and push her into her own oven.
A celebration begins...
... then, suddenly the gingerbread fence disapears.
The gingerbread fence is replaced by children.
The children are freed from the Witch’s spell.
Hansel and Gretel’s parents arrive during the excitement.
They find the Witch baked into a gingerbread cookie.
All give thanks to God for His faithfulness.
The end!
