2 Mistakes to Avoid
HOW TO AVOID 2 MISTAKES
 WHEN CHOOSING A DANCING SCHOOL

 1. CHOOSING BASED ON CONVENIENCE
Parents have very busy schedules.  Sometimes it seems practical to sign up for dancing at the most convenient place.  Often parents sign up at the most convenient place first and think they will change to a better school later if their child really enjoys dancing.

There are a couple reasons why this can be a mistake.  First of all,  teachers make a big difference.  A great teacher can really help a child excel while making learning fun and exciting.  A child that has not had  the right teacher may never reach her potential and never experience the real joy of dancing.  If a child is exposed to years of inadequate training, he/she will become very frustrated when finally exposed to proper training.  It’s a lot like remodeling.  It takes twice as long to re-train a dancer as it does to train one correctly in the first place.

Birmingham Ballet Academy has teachers that  love to inspire their students.  The Academy has earned a reputation of excellence.  We are conveniently located to all the over-the-mountain neighborhoods.  However, our students come from all over Birmingham and from as far away as Gadsden.

 2.  CHOOSING BASED ON  THE LOWEST  FEES
Most parents don’t want to waste money by paying more for something than we have to.  Because of this,  sometimes parents choose a dancing school simply because it has the lowest fees.  This can be a mistake because  a lower price is not usually an indication of a good value.

There are several ways that dancing schools can keep their fees low.  Many schools allow 20 or more students to enroll in the same class.   Often schools use older students or inexperienced teachers to teach  many of the classes.  Some schools don’t invest in professional flooring and mirrors for their classrooms.   Some schools allow their students to choose which classes and how many lessons a week they want to take.  Many schools keep monthly tuition fees down by only providing 30-32 weeks of classes.  A  lot of schools keep performance fees low by charging extra fees for tickets and/or presenting “recital numbers” without professional lighting, sets, or props.

BBA offers parents a great value for a fair price.  Our teachers are experienced professionals and they provide excellent training.  Our spacious studios have “sprung floors”  covered with a professional dance vinyl, high ceilings,  and wall-to-wall mirrors.  Our special floors reduce the risk of injuries and the wall-to-wall mirrors are critical for dancers to learn proper technique.  BBA  has a graded level program.  We have certain class requirements for each ability level which produce proven results.  We give our dancers more training through a complete 36 week term.   Our Spring Performance is a real production.  Through participating in the Spring Performance, our students learn many valuable lessons about the professional theater.
