The Nutcracker
Friends and family join the Christmas Eve party at Clara’s home.
Her uncle, Drosselmeyer arrives with flare!
The children dance...
...the adults dance
and even the maid dances!
Drosselmeyer brings out a magic box.
He has the children place dolls in the box.
The box transforms them into life size dolls.
The dolls entertain everyone.
Then, Drosselmeyer gives Clara a special doll.
It is a Nutcracker doll.
The boys capture the Nutcracker...
and break it!
Drosselmeyer repairs the doll and Clara is relieved.
After the party, Clara sneaks into the parlor to find her Nutcracker in the curio cabinet.
She falls asleep on the couch while little mice appear.
A giant Mouse King appears, too and frightens Clara!
Drosselmeyer transforms the Nutcracker doll into a Prince...
and makes the Christmas tree grow to 20 feet tall!
Toy soldiers and Drosselmeyer’s dolls join the Prince to fight the Mouse King.
Clara helps the Prince win the battle by hitting the Mouse King on the nose with her shoe.
An elegant Snow Queen...
a sprightly Frost Fairy...
and dancing Snowflakes lead Clara and the Prince thru the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets.
Angels guard the entrance to the Kingdom of Sweets.
The Sugar Plum Fairy welcomes them.
She prepares a smorgasbord of food and entertainment from different countries.
Clara is entertained by Spanish chocolates...
...French marzipan
...Russian peppermints
... Chinese tea
...Arabian coffee
...German gingersnaps
and graceful dancing flowers ...
...joined by dazzling butterflies.
Finally, the Sugar Plum Fairy dances with the Prince.
Their dance is graceful, poised ...
... and captivating!
Then, Drosselmeyer arrives to guide Clara back home.
She is lead back to the parlor...
where she finds her Nutcracker in the curio once again...
and the wonder of her magical evening glimmers around her.
